4. Rights to your content
Your handwritten characters and the documents you create remain your property. We claim no usage rights to your content, never access it (it stays on your device), and never use it to train AI models.

These terms govern use of the Writely app and this website (getwritely.app).
These terms apply to everyone using the “Writely” app for iOS/iPadOS and its companion website. By installing or using the app, you accept these terms in addition to the Apple App Store's usage terms.
Writely lets you set up your own handwriting once and turns typed text, locally on your device, into documents in your own handwriting style — without generative AI, without cloud processing of your content.
Free of charge: 1 handwriting, 4 documents, and 3 exports per 24 hours as an image or via copy-to-clipboard (with a Writely watermark).
PDF export, the experimental GoodNotes export, and unlimited exports are prepared as Writely Pro features. Purchases are not yet activated (see subscription terms) — until then, the app shows a “Coming soon” notice for these features instead of a real export.
The current feature set for Free and Pro is described on the pricing page and in the App Store listing and may change with new app versions.
Purchases of paid features (subscriptions or one-time purchases) happen exclusively through the Apple App Store, once that feature is activated (see subscription terms for current status). Your contracting party for the purchase is Apple, under its own terms; we never receive your payment details.
Your handwritten characters and the documents you create remain your property. We claim no usage rights to your content, never access it (it stays on your device), and never use it to train AI models.
You agree not to use the app for unlawful purposes, in particular not to create documents that violate applicable law (e.g. forgery).
Writely can experimentally export documents into a file format compatible with the “GoodNotes” app. This export is experimental and has no connection to GoodNotes; it is neither supported nor authorized by GoodNotes. Formatting and strokes may look slightly different in GoodNotes than in Writely, and currently only single-page documents are supported. If the export fails, Writely creates a PDF you can import into GoodNotes instead. This export is available to Writely Pro users once purchases are activated (see above). “GoodNotes” is a trademark of GoodNotes GmbH or its affiliated companies.
We aim for reliable operation but cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of the app or website. Freemium limits, supported paper formats, and experimental features (e.g. the GoodNotes workflow) may change; the app always shows the current state.
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and under applicable product liability law. For ordinary negligence we are liable only for breach of material contractual obligations, limited to foreseeable, typical damages.
Once subscriptions are active, they are managed and cancelled exclusively through your Apple ID. See the subscription terms for details.
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on the International Sale of Goods, unless mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise. Should any provision of these terms be invalid, the remaining provisions remain unaffected.
